Indus Hydro's Nalo hydro project gets environmental clearance
The 360 MW Nalo hydro electric project has accorded environmental clearance for pre-construction activities.
The Expert Appraisal Committee under the Ministry of Environment and Forests has further stipulated detailed
Terms of Reference for the Environmental Impact Assessment and Environment Management Plan studies for Indus Hydro Power, the project developer.
The formation of EIA/EMP studies for the project should consists of 3 seasonal studies, covering pre-monsoon, monsoon and post monsoon.
Moreover, the study area should comprise of the catchment area up to the dam site, the submergence area, the intermediate catchment between dam site and tail race outfall and the direct impact area within 10 km radius of main project.
It should also include biological, geological and geophysical aspects that may change the construction of the proposed project.
The Nalo hydel project is located in a remote area up-stream of Ledi Ishi Nallah in Upper Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh. This project envisages utilization of water of river Subansiri.
The Nalo HEPwill have four generating units of 90 MW each.
