Haryana to set up JV hydel project in Bhutan
The Haryana government is setting up joint venture hydel power project in Bhutan.
This is in partnership with the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the State would get 1500 to 2000 MW power from Bhutan in next four to five years at rates economical than thermal power.
The Chief Minister, who came back after two day delegation to Bhutan said that Haryana and the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan have reached an understanding on pursuing a mutually beneficial economic collaboration across a numberof sectors, especially power.
"The state government will invest to set up the project and sign PPA to buy power from Bhutan," Mr Hooda said.
The Bhutan government has agreed in principle to partner with the State of Haryana in harnessing its hydro power potential, the State of Haryana would be engaging with Bhutan in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Livestock, Industrial Development, Urban Planning and Infrastructure Development sectors keeping in view the historical excellent relations between India and Bhutan.
