Chinese companies to build four power plants in Pakistan
Will partner with Qatari companies in this project.
Chinese and Qatari companies will jointly install four coal based power plants generating a total of 2,600 MW in Balochistan and Port Qasim. Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that two projects, each one of 660 MW, will be set up at Balochistan and two at Port Qasim.
He said he was pleased with the foreign investments in Pakistan, which is facing a severe energy crisis. The completion of these projects will go a long way to overcoming the problem, he noted. He said that for the time being, imported coal will be used in the projects until Pakistan’s coal is ready for mining.
