Bihar to operate first private power plant by April 2014

Bihar's first private sector thermal plant is scheduled to become operational by April 2014.


This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

The first unit of the 2X640MW thermal power plant, situated near Bausa block in Banka district is being constructed by M/S JAS Infrastructure Capital Pvt Ltd.

The power developer had been alloted coal linkage from Jharkhand in 2004 and has invested Rs. 2077 crore out of estimated investment of Rs 14,764 crore, he told reporters.

Modi said he had recently reviewed the project's progress works.

He urged the Centre to consider allocation of 50 percent power from proposed public sector thermal power plants in Bihar in view of its power crunch.
