Australia's Acciona to build 157.5MW wind farm
It invested US$204.44m in the project.
Australian firm Acciona invested US$204.44m (A$288m) in the 157.5MW Mortlake South wind farm. This is expected to boost the company’s renewable energy capacity in the country by 36%.
According to an announcement, Mortlake South will incorporate a scalable battery energy storage system to help boost performance and integration into the electricity grid. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2019, with completion expected in mid-2020.
The wind farm is expected to generate the clean energy equivalent of the electricity consumption of almost 80,000 Australian households and avoid the emission of over 532,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
Mortlake South will be ACCIONA Energy's fifth wind farm in Australia.
