Vietnam Electricity’s output up 11.5% as of end-July

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has reported an 11.5% increase in its electricity output to reach 179.44 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh)in the first seven months of the year.

Broken down, the EVN said 53.7% or 96.4 billion kWh was generated through coal-fired thermal power. This was followed by hydropower (40.9 billion kWh), renewable energy (24.02 billion kWh), gas turbines (14.65 billion kWh), and imported electricity (3.07 billion kWh).

Power transmission output in July 2024 is estimated at 22.43 billion kWh, which was up 8.3% from last year, EVN said. The cumulative output in the first 7 months of the year is estimated at 121.99 billion kWh, up 12.7% from last year, it added.

EVN’s total commercial electricity output as of the end of July was up 13.52% to 160.41 billion kWh, of which the electricity growth of some typical components is as follows: power for daily life increased by 14.7%, for industry - construction increased by 12.4%, for trade - services increased by 15.3%, and for agriculture increased by 13.9%.
