TRUenergy approved for NSW power plant
TRUenergy Holdings has received approval from New South Wales, Australia, to build a second gas-fired power plant in the state.
The firm is yet to make a final decision on developing the unit at a site in the Illawarra region south of Sydney..
The proposed Tallawarra power station is estimated to cost between $199m $328.8m, depending on whether it is designed to deliver baseload power around the clock or to meet peak demand.
The schedule and details of the project depend on electricity demand forecasts and whether the Australian Government imposes a price on carbon emissions, said a TRUenergy spokesperson.
The facility will have a capacity of up to 450MW.
TRUenergy started operating the Tallawarra power station in January 2009.
