Thai’s PTT to invest in foreign hydropower plants
Thailand’s PTT wants to invest in hydropower plant businesses in neighbouring countries to help secure Thailand's energy needs.
State-controlled PTT was in talks about acquiring two power plants and expected to conclude at least one deal in the first quarter of 2011, Chief Financial Officer Tevin Vongvanich told reporters late on Monday.
"Demand for electricity has increased and Thailand has to buy more electricity from hydropower plants. PTT, as a national energy company, is interested in this business," Tevin said, adding PTT was also keen to invest in coal businesses overseas.
