TEPCO, JXTG to build a 1.3GW gas-fired plant in Japan
The US$1.08b project will be commissioned in 2024.
Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) and JXTG Holdings have agreed to jointly build a 1,300 MW gas-fired power plant in the Japanese city of Kawasaki. According to Enerdata, a 50-50 joint venture will be set up for this purpose in October 2017.
The whole project is expected to amount roughly Yen120bn (US$1.08bn). The power plant should be commissioned around 2024.
"JXTG already operates an 850 MW gas-fired power plant along with Tokyo Gas in Kawasaki through Kawasaki Natural Gas Power. The two companies submitted an extension plan back in 2015 to add two new generators with a capacity of 550 MW each with a planned operation start in 2021 but they cancelled the project later in July 2017," Enerdata said.
