The project, set to be commissioned in 2024, is expected to generate electricity that could power 64,000 local households. It will be located in Gunwi-gun, Kyongsangbuk-do province.

This is also in line with South Korea’s efforts to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels as well as its pursuit of increasing the share of renewable energy in its power mix to 20% by 2030.

In 2021, South Korea had around 1.7 gigawatts of wind installations with the share of wind power less than 1% of total electricity generation.
