SG, Indonesia deepen renewable energy collaboration

The MoU provides for the establishment of an institutional framework to facilitate investments.

Singapore and Indonesia have deepened their collaboration in renewable energy by facilitating investments in renewable energy. 

Under the memorandum of understanding, the two countries seek to establish a cooperative institutional framework to facilitate investment in renewable energy manufacturing in Indonesia.

This will also cover cross-border electricity trading projects between the two countries.

“The countries will facilitate investments for the development of upstream and downstream renewable energy manufacturing industries and capabilities in Indonesia, including solar photovoltaics and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), leveraging investments for electricity export projects to Singapore,”  the statement read in part. 

Moreover, the MoU also provided that Indonesia and Singapore will facilitate the development of solar farms and BESS to supply renewable energy in Indonesia as well as for exporting energy, including green electricity.
