Second Icelandic firm joins Philippine geothermal power project
Icelandic firm H.S. Orka Energy will beef up the technical capability of the local developer of the 49-megawatt Biliran geothermal power project in the Visayas, Philippines.
This was announced to the media by Energy Undersecretary Jay Layug.
Orka Energy will partner with Envent Holdings Philippines in the project, although its equity take has not been specified at this point.
Another Icelandic firm Geysir Green Energy already came into the project as early as 2009.
The plant was initially targeted to be on stream this 2012, but given development hurdles, it is seen that commissioning may not come until 2015.
