Philippine power projects almost complete
Expansion of electricity grid in the Visayas region to finish this first quarter.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the expansion project will see the installation of a 50 megavolt ampere transformer at its substation in the province of Negros Occidental and another in Cebu province. It said that the expansion project aims to build a stronger transmission for a stronger nation.
These transformers and another in Leyte province will accommodate the growth in demand and facilitate the reliable delivery of electrical power in the Visayas region. The project cost US$8.6 million.
NGCP is a privately owned corporation that operates, maintains and develops the Philippines’ power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through power superhighways that include the interconnected system of transmission lines and towers, substations and related assets.
