Chugoku Electric seeks go signal for Shimane-3 nuclear reactor
It is now nearing completion.
The Japanese power utility Chugoku Electric Power Company is seeking approval from the Shimane prefecture and the Matsue city government for pre-startup inspections of the Shimane-3 nuclear project in Japan.
Originally scheduled to begin commercial operation in December 2011, the 1,373 MWe advanced boiling water reactor (ABWR) entered construction in December 2005 but works were stopped after the Fukushima accident in March 2011. The reactor is nearing the completion stage and will need to pass safety inspections by the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) to be approved and start operations.
