SunEdison begins operations at 25MW solar PV plant in Gujarat
SSunEdison has started operations at its 25MW solar photovoltaic plant located within a multi-developer solar park in Gujarat, India.
The project is equipped with more than 89,000 solar PV modules and has been completed in four months.
SunEdison managing director South Asia and Sub-Saharan Operations Pashupathy Gopalan said the company takes pride in being an active contributor to the "largest solar power producing state in India".
"Owing to the state's progressive solar policies, we are confident we can help make Gujarat the national solar hub for India," said Gopalan.
In the first year of operation, the plant is expected to produce more than 40 million kilowatt hours of clean solar energy.
SunEdison will continue to own a portion of the solar project, in line with statutory ownership requirements in India.
Currently, the multi-facility solar park is spread over 1,000 acres and houses various PV facilities and generates over 200MW in total power generation capacity.
