Siemens to build India's first 765kV test laboratory
Siemens Limited will build a 765kV test laboratory, the first-of-its-kind in India, at Bina, Madhya Pradesh for the National High Power Test Laboratory.
It has signed a contract worth Rs 146.86 crore with state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India for the project.
The project is expected to be commissioned in the next 14 months.
Siemens will be executing the project vas an end-to-end solution provider.
The company has also been contracted for the annual maintenance of this test laboratory for five years.
The execution consultant of this project is PGCIL, which will be the primary interface for Siemens, with CESI ITALY being the Technical consultant. NHPTL is a joint venture company formed by NTPC, NHPC, Power Grid, DVC and CPRI.
"The facility that is being built at Bina in Madhya Pradesh will be India`s premier on line high power short circuit test facility. It will help power equipment manufacturers and national power utilities optimize cost and time by not having to go to international destinations for high power testing.", said Dr. Lakshman Hari, CEO, NHPTL, in a recently held seminar.
He added that international power equipment manufacturers are welcome to come and test their power equipment.
