Reliance Power synchronises Samalkot units in record time
Two units of 2,400 MW gas-based Samalkot power plant in Andhra Pradesh are now awaiting gas allocation from pooled domestic and imported sources.
This is after Reliance Power synchronised these in record time.
The Rs 10,000-crore Samalkot plant has six gas turbines, each having a capacity of 240 MW. It would be the country's largest gas power project and is ready for generating electricity.
Once commissioned, the Samalkot plant would generate more than 15 billion units of power that would be utilised in the southern region.
The project would also help in easing acute electricity shortages in south, where the power deficit is as much as ten per cent.
Reliance Power expects to have 5,000 MW generation capacity by the end of this year.
