PLN, Pelindo II sign seaport electricity services deal
PLN signed an MoU with state port operator Pelindo II to ensure electricity supply for the Tanjung Priok Seaport in North Jakarta and Pelindo II's other ports.
Under the MoU, the two companies will shortly conduct financial, technical and commercial studies for further cooperation in the form of power supply for customers located in the ports managed by Pelindo II.
The MoU was signed by PLN president director Nur Pamudji and Pelindo II president director R. J. Lino.
The signing will be followed up by the establishment of a joint team to coordinate related parties, prepare necessary legal means and formulate official cooperation deals. The steps are necessary before PLN begins to give special treatment for the electricity supply to Pelindo II's ports.
Pamudji said the agreement was based on the shared interest of both companies to improve services to their customers.
"Pelindo wants to serve ships entering its ports and other customers in port areas, while PLN aims to ensure that the power supply is sufficient and reliable," he said in a press statement on Thursday.
He continued that the firms expect the official cooperation agreement could be signed next month.
