Philippines' Trans-Asia to customize services for 200-MW
Takers anyone?
Trans-Asia will be setting aside up to 200 megawatts for its supply offer to prospective contestable customers under the open access system.
Trans-Asia president Francisco L. Viray said their existing power generation portfolio can fully provide for the needs of their planned aggressive foray into cornering open access customers.
“We are talking to them and making our offers. There are many who can be our potential contestable customers,” he said.
Contestable customers are those within the 1.0 megawatt peak demand threshold set by the Energy Regulatory Commission as prospective participants under open access.
Open access is seen giving consumers not only the upper hand in negotiating for their preferred “electricity price” but will also give them leverage on technology options as to what supply source they will patronize.
Viray noted that their strategy on supply sourcing, even for contestable customers, will be from their “power generation portfolio, which includes our power plants and those of third party IPPs (independent power producer administrators) and from the WESM (Wholesale Electricity Spot Market).”
