India's Assam power plant suffers from insufficient gas supply
Insufficient gas availability for 291 MW Assam Gas Based Power Plant pulled down generation level in the rangeof only 190 to 210 MW.
Its developer, NEEPCO, has now decided to approach the government of Assam in a bid to find a plausible solution to the prevailing gas supply crunch.
NEEPCO had made repeated pleas for enhanced gas supply, from the existing 1.4 mmscmd per day to 1.65 mmscmd per day, but it remains unheeded.
It sought the power ministry's intervention on the matter, but the latter had failed to convince the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to increase the quantum of gas for the plant to operate at maximum load.
Even OIL (India) Limited had refused to accede to NEEPCO's demands and had intimated that enhancement of gas Assam PowerPlantlinkage for the plant will be possible only from the new exploration to be taken up by the state-owned company.
