Alstom wins $30.8M Indian equipment supply contracts

Alstom T&D bagged two equipment supply contracts worth Rs 176 crore or US$30.8 million from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

The first contract, worth Rs 105 crore, is the largest order for 765 kV shunt reactors awarded to the company to date. The order is for supply, erection, testing and commissioning of reactors for high voltage substations at Gaya in Bihar, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Dharamjaygarh in Chhattisgarh and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, a company statement said.

The second contract, worth Rs 71 crore, is for supply, erection, testing and commissioning of reactors including complete civil work, for two substations at Padghe and Aurangabad in Maharashtra.

The reactors will be delivered from Alstom T&D India's Vadodara unit.

These reactors, once installed in the grid, will strengthen power transmission network in eastern, northern and western regions of India and mitigate gap between demand and supply of power, the statement said.
