Singapore, Uzbekistan firms collaborate on logistics, renewable energy

More than 20 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed.

Being Singapore’s second largest trading partner, Uzbekistan inked deals with the Lion City to kickstart projects on transport, logistics, and renewable energy.

In his opening remarks at the Singapore-Uzbekistan Business Forum, Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong said more than 20 MOUs were signed including an MOU on trade and economic cooperation between governments of Uzbekistan and Singapore.

“The MOU will reaffirm our countries’ commitment to foster economic cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as education, food security, digitalisation, logistics, and urban planning,” said Gan.

Gan said Singapore and Uzbekistan continued to have good relations during the COVID-19 pandemic such as the Lion City’s imports of dried fruit to the Central Asian market.
