CLP Power allocates $25.7m for energy conservation programme

It will also provide power subsidies to underprivileged people.

CLP Power has allotted around US$25.7m (HK$200m) under the CLP Community Energy Saving Fund for 2024 to support programmes that will promote renewable energy development, energy saving, and carbon emissions reduction and help underprivileged communities.

In a statement, CLP said around US$6.4m (HK$50m) will be given to the CLP Electricity Subsidies for the Underprivileged Families Programme, providing around US$77 (HK$600) to 50,000 elderly people, low-income families and people with disabilities. It will also provide US$128.3 (HK$1,000) power subsidies to 20,000 subdivided unit tenants.

CLP will raise the funding for Home Electrical Safety to (HK$9.5m) and will launch the Home Electrical Safety Enhancement for the Underprivileged Family next year, targeting to benefit around 2,000 households.

It will also provide around US$384,000 (HK$3m) to support the government’s Community Living Room pilot programme and will provide around US$257(HK$2,000) to 2,000 families living in transitional housing.

Through the funding, the company will set around US$2.6m (HK$20m) to purchase and install solar energy systems in eligible schools and non-government organisations to develop renewable energy, and about US$7.4m (HK$58m) for the CLP Retail and Catering Coupons Programme.

The company will also provide about US$731,000 (HK$5.7m) for the continuity of the Students E-learning Assistance Programme.
