A consortium led by Canada’s JCM Power has bagged a 240-megawatt wind-solar project in Pakistan, which will be the country’s first utility-scale hybrid renewable energy project.

In a statement, JCM Power, along with its Pakistan-based partners Burj Capital and Gharo Solar, will build the hybrid plant in Dhabeji near Karachi. This will deliver electricity to K-Electric Limited (KE) at a tariff of $0.031 per kilowatt-hour.

This will be connected to KE’s 220 kilovolt Dhabeji Grid Station, making it the largest renewable energy project to be included in the private utility's network to date.

The project aims to achieve a 30% renewable generation share within KE's network by 2030.
