Malaysia looks at Indian hydro power projects
Malaysia is showing increasing interest in investing in hydro-electric power projects in India.
Malaysian Second Minster for Resource Planning and Environment Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that besides investing, Malaysia also wanted to share its expertise in hydro power projects. He said Malaysia was especially interested in India’s Tamil Nadu state with its huge market potential. He also invited Indian businessmen to invest in Malaysia.
Hasan, who is leading a 70-member trade delegation during a five-day visit to India, is to sign two memoranda of understanding with various trade bodies.
The two MoUs seek to strengthen and establish bilateral trade with existing and potential buyers in India and also to promote the Malaysian state of Sarawak as a favored investment destination in energy intensive high tech industries for Indian firms.
