Just Transition Support Platform for developing countries launched

This forms part of the ADB’s commitment to ensure build capacity of developing countries.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched the Just Transition Support Platform in aid of developing countries.

The platform is intended to build the capacity of ADB’s developing member countries in planning, implementing and financing the transition to net zero.

“This platform will help to build inclusive and equitable action toward achieving net zero in Asia and the Pacific, while maximizing the gender, social, and economic outcomes of climate action,” Director General of ADB's Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department Bruno Carrasco said.

“The Just Transition Support Platform will help our DMCs implement practical just transition approaches to meet their goals under the Paris Agreement.”

According to the ADB, the Asia-Pacific region accounted for more than half of the world’ carbon emissions, giving rise to the urgent need for a rapid and just transition to net zero.
