Japan will sell nuclear technology to V4 nations
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe leads in promoting the export of Japanese nuclear technology.
During his official visit to Europe in June, Abe is scheduled to visit Poland to attend a meeting of Polish leaders along with leaders of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, collectively known as the Visegrad Four or V4.
Sources said Abe will use the opportunity to convince the V4 to close projects with Japanese companies for planned nuclear power plants in the V4 nations. Japan is hoping to export its nuclear technology to the V4 nations as there are many opportunities for nuclear projects here.
V4 is looking to have nuclear plants running and operational by 2020. There are plans to build three reactors in the Czech Republic and two each in Poland and Hungary.
The competition will come mostly from Russian contractors, who have a stronger influence in Eastern Europe because of geographical proximity.
