Indian power plant to convert from diesel to gas-fired
Karnataka Power will convert a 128 MW diesel generating power plant to gas-fired station.
It has invited bids from global consultants to prepare a feasibility report for this purpose.
The conversion of the plant located at Yelahanka in Karnataka is for environmental purpose since natural gas is the cleanest burning fossil fuel and there is no ash or sludge disposal associated with gas.
Karnataka Power intends to meet the stipulations laid down by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and the environment ministry for its power station.
The successful bidder will have to formulate a report based on 4 options, one of them being conversion of existing DG plant to a gas fired power plant of the same capacity.
The other options include installation of 1x350 MW capacity gas fired combined cycle power plant, 2x350 MW gas fired CCPP and 1x700 MW capacity gas fired CCPP.
All bidders are required to submit their EOI latest by February 20, 2013.
