Indian and Chinese heavy hitters in wind power joint venture

Two of Asia’s leading wind power companies have teamed up to take on the world.

India’s Suzlon Energy and China's CGN Wind Energy Company will jointly develop 800 MW of domestic and international projects over the next three years. The financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

Suzlon is the world's fifth largest wind turbine manufacturer while CGNWE is one of the largest wind power developers in China with installed capacity of around 3,000 MW.

CGNWE is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group that has two nuclear plants online with six more building.

Suzlon said a working team has been set up to explore the most viable projects globally, covering countries such as Brazil, South Africa, India and China.

Suzlon Chairman Tulsi Tanti said his company is delighted with global strategic partnership agreement for this with CGNWE.

“The professional approach of CGNWE and its experience in developing large projects make this a symbiotic partnership,” he noted.

CGNWE Chairman Chensui said that with Suzlon's experience in the global market and CGNWE's expertise in wind power, the company is confident of building very successful projects to meet the renewable energy needs for these markets effectively.
