India’s first STPP goes online
Solar Thermal Power Plant is located in Rajasthan.
The 50 MW STPP built by Godawari Green Energy Ltd is capable of lighting 2.5 million homes without emitting harmful air pollution and greenhouse gases. It employs parabolic trough concentrated solar power technology.
Managing Director Siddharth Agrawal congratulated the GGEL project team on achieving this task of commissioning India’s first STPP on time.
Concentrated solar power or CSP systems use mirrors or lenses to concentrate a large area of sunlight onto a small area. Electrical power is produced when the concentrated light is converted to heat, which drives a heat engine connected to an electrical power generator.
