China to eat-up more electricity this year
Coal to produce 80% of power.
China's power consumption will grow to 5.33 trillion kWh this year, 7.5% higher than the 5.5% growth rate in 2012 said the China Electricity Council.
Electricity usage in primary industries will rise by 5%. The increase will be 6.5% for secondary industries and 11% for tertiary industries.
Thermal power is expected to account for 80% of power generation this year while hydroelectric power will take a 16% share, CEC forecasts a growth of 22% in on-grid wind power.
China’s power consumption will keep increasing until 2020 when per capita consumption will exceed 5,000 kWh. China consumed 4.96 trillion kWh of electricity last year.
