China’s clean energy use rises by 31% in July
Clean energy provided 107 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in July, up 31% from a year ago.
From January to July, China’s clean energy sources such as solar and wind generated 505.5 billion kWh of electricity, said the State Electricity Regulatory Commission. This represented 18% of total on-grid power and was a 1.9 percentage point improvement year-on- year.
From January to July, electricity from wind power, hydropower and nuclear power increased by 30%, 16% and 15%, respectively.
In July, wind-generated electricity grew 57%, marking the fastest growth pace, followed by hydro-power electricity that expanded by 34%.
In July, hydropower generation capacity increased by 6% year-on-year to 203 million kW. Nuclear power generation capacity added 16% to 12.57 million kW. Wind power generation capacity stood at 53.8 million kW, up 37%.
