Newest Philippine wind farm to come online in September 2014
Will generate 81 MW.
The wind farm in the hills of the province of Ilocos Norte bordering the South China Sea will consist of 32 wind turbines. It will be built by the Northern Luzon UPC Asia Corporation; AC Energy and the Philippine Investment Alliance for Infrastructure (Pinai), a fund partly financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Pinai is managed by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets.
Construction of the wind farm is being financed by ADB, the Philippines’ Government Service Insurance System, Dutch pension fund asset manager APG and the Macquarie Group.
Pinai will own 32% of the project and will invest up to US$85 million. The wind farm has a total cost of US$255 million.
