juwi Shizen Energy's third solar park in Japan now online

It’s a free field solar park on Kyushu island.

The utility scale solar power plant was commissioned by a joint venture between the German juwi group and the Japanese company, Shizen Energy, Inc. It has an installed capacity of 1.1 MW generated by 4,480 solar modules that feed 1,375,000 kWh of electricity into the local grid each year.

juwi Shizen Energy has also installed utility scale roof top photovoltaic systems. Its “Bear 2” system consists of 4,088 solar modules and has a capacity of one MW and produces one million kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy per year.

Japan is currently dramatically expanding its renewable energy sector, aiming for 20% renewables by 2020. Japan is now one of only five countries that have achieved 10 gigawatts of cumulative solar photovoltaic capacity. The PV market in Japan broke the 10 GW barrier this August and reached 10.5 GW at the end of August.
