Hanergy to acquire US thin film solar company
Will be its third such acquisition.
Hanergy Holding Group, one of China's leading privately-run manufacturers of clean energy products, will acquire Global Solar Energy, an Arizona-based company making ultra-thin solar panels using copper, indium, gallium and selenium (CIGS).
The deal will be Hanergy’s third purchase of a thin film solar company following the acquisitions of California-based solar energy company Miasole that makes CIGS thin film solar modules and Solibro GmbH, a German-Swedish joint venture seeking to commercialize CIGS thin film solar modules.
Hanergy produces 2 GW of solar panels per year and runs hydropower plants with a capacity of 6 GW.
