Alstom to supply wind turbines for Eurus wind farm in Japan
Alstom will supply 10 of its wind turbines for the wind farm at Kawazu.
Under the contract with Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation, Alstom will supply 10 of its ECO 74 wind turbines with 70 meter towers. Each turbine has an output of 1.67 MW. The wind farm will be fully operational in February 2015.
The contract includes the supply of wind turbine generators and supervisions for installation and commissioning of the units at Kawazu, located on the east coast of Izu Peninsula in the Kamo District, Shizuoka.
The 16.7 MW Kawazu Wind Farm will support Japan's aim to have wind power provide over 10% of the 2008 domestic electric power demand by 2050. Eurus Energy, the largest Japanese wind energy developer, owns and operates wind farms that supply over 2.2 GW worldwide.
Alstom has previously supplied ECO 74 wind turbines for Eurus Energy's Satomi wind farm (10 MW). Alstom will also supply wind turbines to Higashi Izu II Wind Farm (18 MW) that will be commissioned in 2015.
