Samsung C&T, Lilama wins EPC contract for Vietnam’s 1st LNG power plant
The Nhon Trach 3 & 4 plants will be completed between 2023 and 2024.
The consortium of Samsung C&T and Lilama Corporation has been awarded the engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) contract for the development of Vietnam’s first liquified natural gas-fired power plant.
In a statement, Lilama said the main scope of the work for the Nhon Trach 3 & 4 Power Projects is applying the use of modern combined cycle gas turbines with a configuration of one gas turbine, heat recovery boiler, and steam turbine each.
The EPC package for the project awarded by PetroVietnam Power Corporation has an aggregate amount of over $1b (VND24.1t). Lilama added that US-based General Electric Group will be supplying the main equipment for power plants.
Nhon Trach 3 & 4 plants, located in Ong Keo Industrial Park in Nhon Trach District in Dong Nai province, have a total capacity of 1,500 megawatts (MW) and are expected to start operating between 2023 and 2024. It has a total investment of around $1.4t (VND32.5t).
They are also expected to supply electricity to three large areas of high load power in the Southern Region including Ho Chi Minh City, provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
