Pertamina, Karpowership ink deal for sustainable energy infrastructure
The general partnership agreement will use cutting-edge Powership technology.
Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) and Turkey-based powership operator Karpowership have signed a monumental General Partnership Agreement (GPA) for the development of energy infrastructure in Indonesia.
Formed during COP28, the partnership embodies the joint commitment of both parties to provide cleaner energy solutions and anchor major energy transitions.
Through the GPA, PIS and Karpowership will cooperate on the exploration and implementation of several initiatives for the widening of the energy landscape in the Indonesian market and globally. Focus areas comprise utilisation of cutting-edge Powership technology, gas assets through liquefaction with floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG), collaboration on LNG infrastructure projects, and small-scale LNG distribution.

In addition, both parties will progress research on alternative fuel sources, such as hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and other biofuels.
“Collaboration is about exploring other business opportunities to optimize existing assets, such as floating mini-LNG and floating CNG facilities. We believe this development is the key to the energy transition because gas is a bridge to renewable energy,” Nicke Widyawati, president director of PT Pertamina, stated.
