NLC unit to develop 600 MW solar project

The electricity generated from the project will be supplied to GUVNL.

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) won a 600-megawatt (MW) solar power project through a competitive bidding process which tender was issued by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).

In a statement, the Ministry of Power said the project’s development, which is part of the GSECL Khavda Solar Park, will be carried out by NLC India’s subsidiary NLC India Green Energy Limited (NIGEL).

In line with this, NIGEL signed a power purchase agreement with GUVNL for the solar project with a tariff of $0.033 (INR2.705) per kilowatt-hour.

The proposed project is expected to have an annual generation of 1,577.88 million units, with a total electricity generation of 39.447 billion units in its lifetime.

It will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 35.5 million metric tonnes.
