Indonesia’s PLN to bid for Singapore electricity project
PT PLN, Indonesia’s government monopoly that controls power distribution, will bid for a US$145.5 million Singapore power project.
PLN will make the bid through a subsidiary, PLN Batam. Dadan Koernadipura, PLN Batam President, said the project will provide 1,000 megawatts of electricity to Singapore. He noted that the bid was organized by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority and would be opened next year.
Should PLN wins the bid, it will build a power plant in Batam, an island in close proximity to neighboring Singapore. Dadan said PLN will sell the electricity to Singapore through a submarine cable.
“The company is currently preparing a proposal so that we can win the project,” he said.
