Ark Energy withdraws development application for Doughboy Wind Farm
A new scoping report will be submitted in case of a resumption.
Ark Energy has pulled out its development application for the Doughboy Wind Farm from the New South Wales Government’s planning and assessment process following a change of mind from some of the project’s affected landowners.
In a statement, Ark Energy said the proposal has also been withdrawn from the environmental assessment process managed by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. The scoping report and issued Planning Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements for the environmental impact statement are no longer valid following this development, the company added.
Despite the withdrawal, Ark Energy maintains that the site is an ideal location for wind energy development, adding it may later reconsider the project with a different design. The company said a new scoping report will be prepared, and the assessment and approval process for the revised project will start from scratch should development recommence.
Earlier, Ark Energy also withdrew its Wooroora Station Wind Farm project proposal from the federal environmental assessment process due to delays in the approval, adding that the project is unlikely to be approved.
