Indonesia’s PLN to bid for Singaporean power projects
PLN will bid for a $145.5 million worth of Singaporean power projects through its subsidiary, PLN Batam.
PLN Batam president director Dadan Koernadipura said the project was to provide 1,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity for Singapore. If PLN wins the bid, it will build a power plant in Batam, an Indonesian city neighboring with Singapore.
“Then we will sell the electricity to Singapore. We will channel it through a submarine cable,” Dadan said in Jakarta on Friday.
“The company is currently preparing a proposal so that we can win the project,” he added.
The projects include a 2 x 55 MW coal-fired power plant (PLTU) and a 120 MW gas-fueld power plant (PLTG), set to be build starting at the end of 2013, and another PLTU and PLTG that will be built in 2015.
The bid was organized by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority and would be opened next year, with companies from other countries in the region, including Malaysia and Indonesia, having expressed interest to join the bid.
