World Coal Association rebrands as FutureCoal for sustainable push
The organisation aims to be “The Global Alliance for Sustainable Coal”.
The World Coal Association (WCA) has rebranded into FutureCoal as a transformative push as “The Global Alliance for Sustainable Coal”.
Introduced during a press conference in Delhi, FutureCoal served as a response to modernise the coal industry and embody the primary players across the coal value chain.
Extending from the previous initiatives of WCA, the newly-introduced organisation pledges a formidable international policy framework that advocates for the sovereign rights of coal production among countries and their stakeholders.
The FutureCoal Global Alliance has led to the rebranding through the Sustainable Coal Stewardship (SCS), which provides a platform for coal-based markets, company stakeholders, and other industries for collaborations that contribute to the global coal value chain.

“The total contribution of coal to our modern society and the growing global population should neither be dismissed nor disregarded. Coal and more specifically, a wider definition of abated coal solutions exists and will be needed in any energy transition,” Michelle Manook, CEO of FutureCoal, said.
